The Shining City. The Lion’s Haven. The Heart of Aterrene.

Writing is a funny thing. Here I had thought I'd have my novel finished, and my two poetry collections available for national distribution. But here I am, with neither accomplished.

But that's not such a bad thing.

I've been procratstinating on the final edit of my book, true. But this past week I actually finished it only to find... I'm going to do it again. That's right. Chapter by chapter, analyzing and editing, until it's finished to my satisfaction. Some may think I've reached that fanatical point where I'll never be satisfied, and end up writing the same novel for my whole life, but that's not it. I learned from the first time I finished the novel -don't ignore the nagging voices in your head. They are always right. So now, taking a look, I realize that there is still a few characters clogging up the story, and by eliminating them I can possibly trim the story by at least fifty pages, which would be fantastic. (Clocking in at around 650 pages, even after editing, the story can be downsized, believe me.) But I'm starting to feel the excitement again, because I know now that it's all heading to the conclusion, and then I can finally put the manuscript away, and concentrate on getting it published.

And won't that be great.
